Intellectual Property Policy

Last updated:

Jerseys are all about identity: a colour, a number, a name across the back, a crest that says who you play for. That is exactly why intellectual property matters so much in our niche. This Intellectual Property Policy explains who owns the content on https://proudjersey.com, what you may and may not do with it, how we avoid using other people’s trademarks and designs, and how to tell us about a trademark, design, right-of-publicity or other intellectual property concern. For copyright notices specifically, please use the process on our DMCA page.

At a glance

  • The Proudjersey name, our designs, photos and text belong to Proudjersey or are used under licence.
  • You are welcome to share links to our pages; please do not copy our content or images.
  • We do not use professional league or team names, logos or crests, and our jerseys are not affiliated with any league or team.
  • Report concerns to [email protected] with the subject “IP concern”; we acknowledge within 1 business day and review within 5 business days.

1. What we own

Unless stated otherwise, all content on proudjersey.com is owned by Proudjersey or used with permission. That includes:

  • the Proudjersey name, wordmark, logo and any future brand marks;
  • jersey designs, colourways, patterns, graphics, lettering styles and artwork created for our products;
  • product photographs, lifestyle photography, banners, category images and illustrations;
  • product names, product descriptions, size guidance, policy pages, help articles and any blog content;
  • the selection and arrangement of content on the site, including page layouts and navigation.

This content is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws in the United States and in the other countries where we sell. Buying a jersey gives you ownership of that physical jersey; it does not transfer any rights in the design itself.

2. What you are welcome to do

  • Browse, view and print pages for your own personal, non-commercial use, for example to compare sizes or keep a copy of a policy.
  • Share links to our product pages, category pages and policies by message, email or on social media.
  • Post photos of yourself, your team or your family wearing jerseys you bought from us. We love seeing them.
  • Quote short extracts of our text, such as a line from a policy, with a link back to the original page.
  • Write honest reviews of our products and service, positive or negative, on our site or elsewhere.

3. What you may not do

  • Copy, download, reproduce or republish our product photos, designs or descriptions on another website, store or marketplace.
  • Manufacture, print or sell products that copy or imitate our designs, or offer “inspired by” copies.
  • Use the Proudjersey name, logo or anything confusingly similar in a way that suggests you are us, work with us or are endorsed by us, including in domain names, social media handles or advertising keywords.
  • Scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site’s content with automated tools, other than normal search engine indexing.
  • Remove or alter any copyright notice, watermark or attribution on our content.

If you would like to use our content in a way not listed above, for example in an article, a review site or a team newsletter, ask us first. We often say yes.

4. Our approach to other people’s trademarks

Professional leagues and teams own valuable trademarks: names, nicknames, logos, crests, mascots and distinctive colour combinations used with those marks. We respect those rights. Our jerseys are original sports-style designs, and:

  • we do not use professional league or team names, logos, crests or mascots on our products or in our product names;
  • we describe products by sport and style (“baseball jersey”, “hockey jersey”), not by referencing a team;
  • we do not claim or imply that our jerseys are official, licensed or endorsed products of any league, team, player or event;
  • we do not use the names or likenesses of real athletes or celebrities to sell products.

Generic sports elements, such as stripes, piping, button plackets, contrasting sleeves, numbers and city or regional colours, are part of the shared language of sportswear and are not owned by any single brand. Where a combination of elements could be confused with a particular team’s identity, we avoid it.

5. Personalised items

Where a product offers personalisation, such as adding a name or number, customers are responsible for making sure their text does not infringe anyone else’s rights. We do not accept personalisation that reproduces a protected logo, team name, slogan or a real person’s name without permission (other than the customer’s own name or the name of the person the jersey is for), and we may cancel and refund an order that does. If we refuse a personalisation for this reason, we tell you why and offer you the chance to change it.

6. How to report an intellectual property concern

If you believe something on our site infringes your trademark, design right, right of publicity or other intellectual property right, email [email protected] with the subject line “IP concern” and include:

  1. your full name, organisation (if any), postal address, email address and telephone number;
  2. your relationship to the rights owner (for example owner, employee or legal representative), and confirmation that you are authorised to act;
  3. a description of the right you believe is infringed, such as a trademark registration number and the countries where it is registered, or a description of the design;
  4. the exact URL of each page on proudjersey.com that concerns you, and what specifically on that page you object to;
  5. a short explanation of why you believe it infringes;
  6. a statement that the information you have provided is accurate and that you are making the report in good faith.

For copyright concerns (artwork, photographs or text copied from you), please follow the process on our DMCA page, which sets out the specific elements a copyright notice needs.

7. What happens after you report a concern

How we handle intellectual property reports
Stage What we do Timing
Acknowledge Confirm receipt and ask for anything missing. Within 1 business day
Review Examine the content, the right claimed and the context. Within 5 business days of a complete report
Act Remove or change the content, pause sales of a product, or explain why we believe no infringement exists. When the review concludes
Follow up Tell you the outcome in writing, and keep a record of the report. With the outcome

While we review a report about a product, we may temporarily remove the product from sale. If we decide the product does not infringe, we will explain our reasons. If we decide it does, we remove it permanently and do not reintroduce it in a modified form that keeps the infringing element.

8. If we find our content copied elsewhere

We take copies of our designs and photographs seriously and act when we learn about them. If you spot Proudjersey photos, descriptions or designs on another website or marketplace, we would be grateful if you told us at [email protected]. Please include the link and, if you bought something from that seller, any details you are comfortable sharing. We never share your identity with the other party without your permission.

9. Reviews, photos and content you send us

When you submit a review, photo or other content to us for publication, you confirm that it is your own work or that you have permission to share it, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights. You keep ownership of your content, and you give Proudjersey a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it on our site and in our marketing, with credit where appropriate. We may remove content that infringes someone’s rights. Full terms for submitted content are in our Terms of Service.

10. Ideas and design suggestions

Customers often send us ideas for new designs, colourways or sports to cover, and we love hearing them. Please understand that we may already be working on similar ideas, and that we may use suggestions freely without payment or credit. If you have a design you want to protect or sell, consider seeking advice on your options before you send it to us. We will never publish your personal information alongside an idea without your permission.

11. Permission requests

To ask for permission to use our content, for example a product image in an article or a description in a school project, email [email protected] with the subject line “Permission request”. Tell us which content you would like to use, where and for how long. We reply within 1 business day and grant permission in writing when we can.

Common questions about our designs

Can I order a jersey in my favourite team’s colours?

Colours on their own are generally free to use, and many of our designs come in classic colour combinations. What we avoid is combining colours with names, logos, crests or other elements that would make a jersey look like an official product of a particular team.

Can I wear my Proudjersey jersey in a league or tournament?

Of course. Wearing the jersey you bought, in games, at events or in photos, is exactly what it is for. The restrictions on this page concern copying our designs to make or sell new products, not wearing or showing off the jersey you own.

Can my team use photos of us in Proudjersey jerseys on our website?

Yes. Photos you take of your own team are yours to use. If you would also like to use one of our product images, ask for permission first and we will usually agree.

Are your jerseys official league merchandise?

No. Proudjersey jerseys are original sports-style designs. They are not official, licensed or endorsed merchandise of any league, team, player or event, and we never describe them that way.
